Mike Bryan Shines with Jack Sock – Looking Forward To Lunch With the Champ!!!

Mike Bryan couldn’t play at Wimbledon with his brother Bob.  Bob injured his hip on the hard clay in Rome and has been out of commission since.

Mike paired up with Jack Sock.  In 2014, Jack and partner Vasek Pospisil had beaten Bob and Mike in the Wimbledon Gentlemen’s Doubles final.  This time they were on the same side of the net instead of on opposite sides.

They won the first set 6-3.  In a tightly contested second set, Mike and Jack lost a close tiebreaker (9-7) to Raven Klaasen and Michael Venus.  Mike and Jack took the third set 6-3 and then their serve was broken (the only time) when they were serving at 5-6.  That took it to a fifth and deciding set.  It was so late that they had to close the roof to play the fifth set.  With their opponents serving at 5-6, Jack and Mike broke serve to win the fifth set 7-5 and the Championship.

So cool – on my birthday I will be having attending a Washington Kastles VIP Luncheon and Bob and Mike Bryan and Frances Tiafoe.  Not a bad birthday present – having lunch with the reining Wimbledon Gentlemen’s Doubles Champion.
